Sleep deprivation doubles risks of obesity in both children and adults
According to Warwick Medical School, Sleep deprivation doubles risks of obesity in both children and adults. I can actually attest to this. In my Polyphasic sleep experiment, I found that I ate far more. At the time, I attributed it to the theory that I burned more calories, being awake more, but I wasn’t as active either, so it’s probably not true.
Of course, there could be more do it. Sleep dep might be more likely in those who consume soda and coffee excessively (maybe with lots of cream and sugar), which could actually be responsible for the weight gain. I don’t see too much detail about how controlled the study was.
I don’t specifically remember gaining weight during my polyphasic experiment, but I’m not sure I was paying close attention.
