My Ideal Camera: Canon PowerShot S3 IS
DCRP has reviewed my ideal camera, the Canon PowerShot S3 IS. This thing meets every single one of my big features:
- It takes AA Batteries, no $75 battery packs you have to buy for the privelege of not being able to find batteries when it dies and there’s no camera shop around.
- It’s Canon, I’m not sure why, but I just like them
- Full manual capability
- Very nice lense with real zoom supporty (digital zoom is a bloody lie)
- Great video capabilities
- Rotating LCD display
- Good macro mode
Additionally, it’s also got some really cool features like OIS image stabilization and some crazy gimmicky color tricks. I’ve been needing a “serious” camera for a while to replace my waterlogged PowerShot S40.
Price should be around $500, which seems ridiculously cheap considering I paid over $700 for the S40 when it came out. Too bad I just sent all my money to the IRS. Maybe I can start saving to get this thing in a year or so, and it could go down in price a bit by then as well.
