Philips Research Press Releases - Philips develops a woodstove that saves lives and preserves energy resources

It looks like Philips has developed a uniquely awesome woodstove for poor and rural communities. It’s basically a simple wood burning stove, but there’s an electric generator that turns the heat into electricity to spin a small fan. This fan then controls the burn for massively increased efficiency which saves wood and makes it practically smokeless.

It’s great to see things like this for parts of the world that are literally dying for it. Of course, I’d love to have one myself when the gas and electric are cut due to the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
